rate of fire or damage?

what do you think is the most worth while weapon to invest in, a high rate of fire with decent control or a higher damage with lower control and slower rate of fire?

What were you thinking of specifically? Also, what kind of player are you (i.e. "run, spray and pray" or "take cover, aim and hit"?

AFAIK the combinations are something along the lines of (assuming you keep playing assault/specialist)

• high rate of fire but low control, low-to-medium damage, resulting in quite high (theoretical) damage-per-second but also lots of shots going astray, OR
  
• lower rate of fire at higher control, medium to high damage, resulting in slightly lower damage per second but also more shots actually hitting the target.
  

Also, keep in mind the handling time - the time it takes to re-lift your weapon after sprinting. Nothing is more annoying than getting killed while not being able to shoot back.

As you can probably see from there, I personally do like to go for a stable slow gun instead of one that jumps all over the place and runs out of bullets quickly... usually. And then there is the MP5k.

Personally I prefer a weapon that does higher damage. I hate it when I empty my magazine in a second (*cough*MP7 SD*cough*) without hitting ANYTHING, although if I have a reliable crit rate/magazine size (looking directly at the M249 Para, a level 10 LMG for Specialist) then a good fire rate is helpful.

Of course, if you can fire quickly with a lot of damage, then you're set.

I tend to prefer damage per shot over high firerate except for my handgun. There a high firerate is key because you generally only use it after emptying a magazine, not able to reload quickly, so you have to do little damage in little time. Above all I love sniping, I got the M200-SV, the most powerful bolt-action gun, since it's more stable and powerful than auto-snipers. As for assault-rifles I also go for damage over speed, using sv versions mostly, once again more based on control.

cheers guys for the advice, I have dabbled with the As Val with the modified fore grip for extra control and it is great so long as the map you are on is tiny as far as it goes with my specalist it is handy to have that extra damage even if you have a little less control and the extra mag capacity goes a long way when you get into a spray and pray ok carel shoot out but im still trying to experiment there doesnt seem to be any all round decent weapons out there you either get one or the other :/

Well personaly i would go for more acc and controll than anything else. but then again i usaly run semi sniper anyway (as in, put accurate shoot one after another at far distances). expect when i bring out the hk0, i love that firerate.

I have the Vss and i found it very lacking, maybe it was the scope that put me off tough. (got it before you could check the scopes)
now i have the mk16sv and i like it alot more.

the only time i (as how i feel right now) would go for more firerate is with SR, mostly because i realy hate those snipers when you take away the sight for a couple of seconds.
