When playing GRO, I usually have firefox open in the background, refreshing the clan homepage every 5 min on the second monitor... and in another tab there is an internet radio station, called Project Reloaded, aka "No Lutscher Music" (in english, literally "no sucker music" and yes, sucking as in giving BJs, suckers as in ppl doing those).

One of my absolute favourites

Why i hate Nastarovije's name. every time i see him this song goes trough my head

Oh man I really love that song. I live in Germany so the arsehols from the GEMA blocked it - fortunately there is google and I know how to type "proxy", and suddenly, youtube thinks I am in Thailand

i hate censure, but why is it blocked in germany? i know you have some very strange laws sometimes but still.

(and mine country has even stranger sometimes)

It is blocked to protect the artist's rights - whenever you purchase a CD, or a ticket to a concert, or go to a bar which play music, and even if you own a radio or a TV or PC, the GEMA (don't even know what that means) gets a percentage of the price or collects a fee from the bar's owner or a tax for your " home media device". They collect about 300 Million € every year, which they then distribute to all the registered artists, so they actually earn money every time their song is played. (Of course, the GEMA keeps like 20 Million to finance it's own bureacratic structure and all that shit)

That's the theory.

In the praxis, there are about 5 big labels under which music is "produced" - Sony and UMG are some of the names you read most. The big money goes to these labels. And they give a little of that money to the actual artists. So if you made a song, every time it plays on the radio, you get like 12 cents. Literally twelve fvcking cents, I looked it up sometime. Even less per CD sold, and potentially nothing from bars that play your music because most places don't even register with the GEMA until the are "found" by GEMA inspectors, because that's cheaper. Like riding a train without a ticket - if you do it often, the money you save outweights the money you pay when you get caught.

Now on youtube, there is no way to pay for watching a video - yeah that would be shitty now wouldn't it?
So whenever the GEMA finds a video with copyrighted/"protected" content in it, they ask youtube to block it in Germany, because if Germans would watch it, the whole moneymaking industry described above would collapse, and we don't want that now, do we? *sarcasm*
And because GEMA is a federal organisation, it could potentially just block youtube completely, so youtube had better comply and instead of a video give me a message "this video is unavaliable in your country".

Needless to say, this pisses off most anybody - sometimes even the artists themselves.

Still you gotta love the irony that - while youtube denies you the access - google will give you the means to access the thing on youtube
